Spontaneous Dry Eyes

Introduction of Services

The spontaneous dry eyes are noted in some aged monkeys. Schirmer test, breakup time of tear film, corneal fluorescence staining, tarsal gland examination can be used to evaluate the severity of dry eyes and the efficacy of drugs.

8 /63 (16 %) without topical anesthesia

14/68 (20.6 %) with topical anesthesia

16% to 20% of aged monkeys had possible dry eyes, when use human criteria as cutoff line.
